Open Enrollment Continues

TeSA Families,

2021-2022 Open Enrollment began on January 13th, and will continue until February 15th. During this time, we appreciate your efforts to share TeSA with all of your friends and families. Be sure to follow our Texas School of the Arts Facebook page to see photos and videos of our past and present TeSA students in action and share them in your own feed.

We are also still accepting applications for this school year. If you know someone looking for a new school home, please direct them to our website or to paula.fukuhara@mytesa.org.

Artistically & Academically Yours,

Betsy Compton, M.A., M.A.T., M.Ed.

Intent to Return Form

Please fill out the Intent to Return form to designate your child's 2021-2022 plans. This form helps us plan for the appropriate teachers and classroom spaces this fall.

Thank you to everyone who completed this last week! We have responses for 76 students so far.

Dear Edwina, Jr.

2nd-6th grade In-School students completed auditions last week and will now be working on material for the musical as part of their Dance, Music, and Theatre classes. The audition process can be tough, but it builds character through learning self-confidence, collaboration, commitment, time-management, and adaptability. We're very proud of every student who chose to audition for a lead role. TeSA students really know how to shine!

TeSA Library

Our TeSA Library is open! The schedule is designed so that only one grade level visits in a day, and then the Library is closed for 24 hours before the next grade level enters. Students will be able to check out books to read at school and at home. When books are returned, they will be quarantined until they can be cleaned and returned to the shelf. Happy Reading!

Face Shields

We were able to purchase face shields for all of our In-School learners to wear in addition to their masks in Music class. These will allow them to sing at full volume, while better protecting everyone. The shields are labeled and carefully stored for each child to wear. Thank you for continuing to send your child with a mask and sending an extra mask to switch when needed!

Save the Dates - Spring Testing

TeSA will hold STAAR Benchmark Assessments in February, and the official STAAR Assessments in April and May. These tests are mandatory, and ALL 3rd-6th grade students will be required to report to campus for testing. We will utilize every room in the building so that students are always six feet apart. With this increased social distancing, on top of our daily protocol, we will foster the most safe environment possible.

ALL K-2nd grade students will participate in At-Home Asynchronous Learning during these dates. Please start planning now for your K-2nd grade students to learn from home. Teachers will be sending out more information about individual projects soon.

Ring pops, kisses, and suckers/lollipops are requested, but all peanut-free candies are welcome. Candy donations go toward the PTO Candygram fundraiser; more details coming soon.

TeSA Applause

The shout outs keep coming for First-Grade Teacher, Mrs. Sapp.

While online learning is a giant challenge in itself, Mrs. Sapp has not only adapted seamlessly, but also embraced the challenge of leading the yearbook team during this more than memorable year. She did a fantastic job of organizing school pictures and spent hours outside asking kids to smile and fixing their hair. She is always willing to help out other teachers, even with a full plate herself. She is kind, compassionate, and an incredible teacher!

Would you like to recognize someone going above and beyond? Fill out the TeSA Applause Form.
