2nd Grade Music Notes

November 2018

Our 2nd Grade Concert is December 6, at 6:00pm

We have been working on songs for our concert! Our concert will be December 6th, at 6:00pm. Performance is one of the Indiana State Music Standards and at Joan Martin each grade level has ONE concert a year. This concert is our "test" for the semester and all students will be receiving a grade for their effort and personal best during the concert. Please let Mrs. Amsler know in advance if you have a conflict in schedules so an alternate assignment can be worked out.

On the evening of the concert, students should meet in their classrooms at 5:45. Please enter through the gym doors (door 11). Dress code for performers is "nice" dress clothes (please no jeans, t-shirts, or athletic gear)- even better if they have Christmas colors!

Grandparents day is at 2pm on the day of our concert

We are also excited to announce that our Grandparent’s/Special Friend’s day will also be on December 6th. Grandparents and special friends are invited to watch our performance at 2:00pm in the Joan Martin Gym.

Please let your grandparent/special friend know to arrive no earlier than 1:45 and enter through the gym doors (door 11). Parking will be available in lots B and C (gym parking lots). Students will not be allowed to leave school early with their grandparent/special friend. Thank you for allowing us to continue our learning day!

Who Is Mr. Everybody?

Mr. Everybody's Musical Apartment is a silly story that we use to help us learn how to name the notes on the music staff (those five lines and four spaces). We use the initials of the characters to learn the names on the notes. Our first test was review over Book 1 (CDEF). We will eventually learn new notes in Book 2 by the spring semester. The week before a test, students will get their own set of flashcards to take home and study as homework.
