In Russian settlement for Texas the immigrants lived in Plantersville, Texas. Also on the flag white stands for peace the red stands for bravery and the blue stands for loyalty.

Push/Pull Factors

Push Factors: There were a lot of political and economical problems and they're wasn't enough job opportunities and freedom of speech. Also there were many droughts and deaths from disease. In Russia many people blamed the Jews for there problems and killed them.

Pull Factors: There was a lot more opportunity and wealth in Texas. Also there was less poverty and the land was cheap. A big factor was escaping the disease and health problems. There was also a lot of freedom and wealth.

Kissel (Russian drink)


  • 2 cups of fresh Strawberries
  • 5 cups of water
  • 6 Tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/4 cup potato starch
  • 1/4 cup corn starch

Russian Culture/Customs

  • They speak Russian and English.
  • Russian culture has a long cultural history, steeped in literature, ballet, painting and classical music.
  • When the kids are young a very popular doll is nesting dolls.
  • For occasions they usually wear bright clothes with a few sparkles on them .
  • Many of their traditions are similar to ours
  • Lots of families love to dance

Important Person

I chose Nathalie Krassovaska because she was one of the first ballet dancers and retired as a famous ballerina. She has opened up many studios and has/has a very successful business. Her grandmother had done ballet and this dance is a big part of their culture.

Analysis Paragraph

I learned that a lot of Russians had problems from where they came from and they had to move mainly because of economical pressure. Many Russians moved because of poverty and not many job opportunities. Many people who live in Russia have a diverse culture and not many people just Russian. The clothes that they wear are really bright to symbolize that they are happy. Lots of Russians who lived in Texas turned out to be very successful business managers and many other successful and important things. They mainly influenced Texas by the arts,music and dance and they were a very big part of Texas.
