Plasmodium otherwise known as malaria
Malaria is a parasitic disease that involves high fevers, shaking chills, flu-like symptoms, and anemia. Mosquito borne.
Trypanosoma
Infects the host through the tse tse fly. Symptoms include: fever, headaches, pain in joints, followed by a phase when the parasite infects the central nervous system, causing confusion, lack of coordination, and uncontrolled sleepiness
Giardia and Trypanosoma Cruzi
Giardia- otherwise known as giardiasis
Contracted by consuming contaminated liquids. Symptoms include: severe diarrhea and vomiting, the protist takes up residence in the digestive tracks
Trypanosoma cruzi- otherwise known as Chagas' disease
Transmitted by blood sucking assassin bugs. Symptoms include: fever, swollen lymph nodes, headaches, swelling at the site of the bite
