The Positive Effects of Laptops in a Classroom

Students can connect what they learn in a class with real life
“In the early twenty-first century computer tools provide the opportunity for students to construct and test their own models using tools such as spreadsheets or concept maps. This type of instruction deepens students' understanding of abstract concepts and allows these concepts to be taught at an earlier age” (Williams). Laptops give students a pathway of connection bewteen things they have already learned and things they are now learning.
Makes information easier to access
“‘If I can put (up) a study guide or an article that's helpful for them, that's available online through the Dropbox, I make it a lot easier for them to, you know, to do something productive while they're really just sitting on a bus,’ he said” (“Sharyland…”). Websites like turnitin.com and netSchool allow students and teachers to access assignments at anytime.
Provide opportunity to study what they are interested in
“Now the World Wide Web brings a seemingly endless amount of information on almost any subject, and it is possible for students to choose topics based on personal interest rather than availability of resources”(Williams). Students are able to choose things that they are more interested in to study.
Laptops make learning easier.
Laptops create an easier learning environment for students through connection of ideas, easier access to information, and learning about things you are interested in. Through different computer programs and internet websites, students and teachers are given an easier way to teach or learn. Many students find using technology to learn easier because they have access to a vast world full of information at their fingertips.
