This exciting event will be held at Garnet Valley Elementary School. During your visit, you will participate in a special learning activity and have the opportunity to chat. Please eat before you attend as we are not serving refreshments this year.
You may park or be dropped off in front of the school and enter through the lobby. For traffic and logistical reasons, please do not plan on entering more than five minutes before your scheduled time. A guide will show you the way to the room where your visit will be held. Please note that all third and fourth grade classrooms are on the second floor. An elevator is available but a lot of walking is also needed to reach it. Visitors must also be capable of exiting the building on their own in an emergency.
Note to parents/guardians: If your child does not have a grandparent/special person visiting, they will be included within a group for the project/discussion. Since parents will be invited to visit the classroom in November, we encourage you to have another relative, neighbor, or friend attend if grandparents are unavailable. Due to space restrictions, we are unable to accommodate younger siblings/children.
We are very proud of all that we do in Garnet Valley Elementary School, and we can’t wait for you to join us.
PLEASE CLICK HERE TO RSVP before October 5th. THANK YOU.
School News Episode One
New Systems Review
Digital Emergency Cards and Forms SURVEY
Thank you for helping make the transition to digital emergency cards and school forms as seamless as possible. We collected over 3,500 digital forms so far this year and received many positive emails concerning this change. We are now asking you to take this 3 question survey to help us improve this process moving forward. Please use this link to access the short survey.
For parents that did not complete the emergency card form online, a hard copy emergency card has been sent home with your student. Please complete the emergency card and send in to school with your child(ren). If you did not receive a hard copy card in the mail, please contact your school directly.
Review of Absence Reporting Procedure
Garnet Valley moved to an online absence reporting system last year called Safe Arrival by School Messenger. The School Messenger (Safe Arrival System) gives parents 3 options to report an absence: by phone, by using an App, or logging into the website. The SafeArrival reporting system by School Messenger is available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Future absences can also be reported in advance.
For more information about these or any new parent technology, please visit the parent portal on our district website or visit the Garnet Valley Technology Snapshot page which will provide more details on each technology system used in the district.
Lunch Buddy Program
One guest per student per school year can participate in the lunch buddy program as space allows. Once a time/date slot is filled no additional spaces will be available.

Garnet Valley CTC Quick Tip #6
The results are back from the 2017 Pennsylvania Youth Survey for Garnet Valley’s 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th graders. We also have results from 2013 and 2015.
The results of this anonymous survey are self-reported and represent 83.9% of our students.
Did you know? As many of GV parents learned on Tuesday night during our district viewing of Screenagers, it is a parent/caregiver’s option to limit screen time on phones, games, and tablets. We learned that a Screen Time contract would ideally include the times below:
· Meal times — Are devices allowed at the table? Breakfast? Dinner?
· Night power-down — When to turn off screens/phones before bedtime
· Bedroom — Screens in the bedroom? If so, all the time? Are phones allowed in the bedroom?
· Cars — May non-drivers be on their phones?
(Delaney Ruston, Screenagers' filmmaker)
Learn more about why screen time should be limited on the Screenagers website which includes information parent/caregivers can use.

Call to action… Even if you were not able to attend Screenagers and the Break Outs on Tuesday, you can help your child and family manage their screen time. Please see below.
