March 18, 2021
Vanessa Carty, Wentzville Middle School
Vanessa Carty, Wentzville Middle School cashier/server was recognized for her life-saving actions during a lunch period. A seventh-grade student was enjoying lunch with his friends when he began choking on a piece of food. The student ran to the nearest serving line door, and Mrs. Carty, who is a military veteran, recognized his distress and performed the Heimlich Maneuver, dislodging the object from his airway. We are thankful that the student is fine, thanks to the quick actions of Mrs. Carty.
