Language Workshop
We are in the middle of our Discovery Unit. Our essential question is: What is discovery? We have been diving into nonfiction texts and learning about different places around the world. It has been great learning about places we have never been too or even heard of. The Kindergarteners have been working on asking and answering questions about what they are inquisitive about. They have also been using strategies to figure out unknown words:
- Using Labels
- Using Illustrations
- Using Context Clues
- Using Background Knowledge
- What makes sense?
Math Workshop
We have just wrapped up our Unit on 3D Shapes. We worked on determining the differences between 3D Shapes and 2D Shapes, naming 3D shapes, and discussing attributes of 3D shapes. We have also practiced finding 3D shapes in real life and drawing 3D shapes.
Writer's Workshop
We are continuing to work on our information writing unit. We have been researching different aspects about penguins. The Kindergarteners have been learning about penguin habitats, what penguins eat, and different features of penguin bodies. We have been looking at nonfiction text features, and thinking about how we can include them in our own writing pieces.
