Good News Bulletin
For the week of March 2, 2020
RCE Teacher Slimed
Joe Ptaszynski, the PE teacher at Running Creek Elementary (RCE), was recently slimed by students as part of an American Heart Association fundraiser. The Kids Heart Challenge is a 4-week challenge to help raise awareness of heart disease and heart healthy messages, and raises money for the American Heart Association.
This year RCE raised just over $4,350 and had 93 students participate, compared to last year where they only raised $2,000 with 40 students. Staff report the kids were super excited to do this program and the community was incredibly supportive. Ptaszynski stated, "This program doesn't work without the support of the community."
Congrats to TSA students
Elizabeth Middle School (EMS) recently took 14 students to the TSA Call to Conference for the state of Colorado. Out of the 14, nine students were semifinalists (some in multiple competitions), and three earned 2nd place for Website Design (two 6th graders and one 8th grader). Since September, students have worked extremely hard for this competition-meeting after school, three days per week for 1.5 hours each day, to create the projects (over 80 hours of total prep/work time)!
Our 2nd place winners in Website Design, Shayla Whittaker, Mikayla Dunlap and Jamie Sikorski, are the first medal winners EMS has had in 5 years, and are now invited to the June National TSA Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
