Welcome Back!

We hope that you had a great break and we are so excited to share the line up for Parent U in the spring. Below you will find the listing of next week's events! Please be on the lookout for the printed version of the spring 2015 catalog, as it will be mailed next week to ACS families grades 6-12 and will be distributed by hand to students in grades k-5.


Additionally, the 2nd annual district wide basketball tournament, Mountain Madness, will be taking place on March 14th. If you or anyone you know is interested in participating, please contact your child's school.

High School Equivalency Training Kick Off (Ongoing: Tuesdays & Thursdays)

Tuesday, Jan. 20th, 12:30-2:30pm

Could you use a boost in math or language arts for your High School Equivalency Diploma? Come get personal attention and individualized teaching to help you pass the high school equivalency exams. Students will learn using interactive custom lessons on the computer. An A-B Tech instructor will be present to help answer questions and support students as they master the material and see their skills improve. Registration is required. Goodwill Jumpstart Job Workshop

Wednesday, Jan. 21st, 6-8pm

Designed to help job seekers with researching and applying for positions, interview skills, job preparedness soft skills, application completion skills, and resume basics, this workshop has a flexible structure that aims toward making participants more competitive in today's fast paced and ever changing job market. Participants will also have the option of enrolling in Goodwill's career connections employment program during the workshop.

Racial Equity Efforts Within Our District

Join us as we share our vision for excellence with equity! In this session the ACSF will be sharing the intentional efforts that Asheville City Schools (ACS) and Asheville City Schools Foundation are working on to break down the barriers that keep us from having courageous conversations around race. From school-based racial equity grants to a district-level action committee, ACSF is committed to supporting racial equity in ACS at every level. Community members are invited to join in this important conversation focusing on efforts to increase racial equity and decrease the achievement gap within our schools.
