Attaboy Concert and Kona Ice
Copopa students got to enjoy a live rock concert at Columbia High
School on October 6 th from the band “Attaboy”. The lively, energetic
show wasn’t just about music though. The band members shared
personal experiences about making good choices, not judging others,
being kind, and understanding that we are all valuable, regardless of
what others may think of us. We enjoyed listening to the lyrics about
making positive choices, and chanted together, fists up, “BE KIND”! It
was a great show, uplifting and really fun. There was a dance contest
among students, as well as teachers! We had a rockin’ good time!
Fire Safety Week
The Columbia Fire Department brought out a fire truck and house for the students to explore during recess. They were able to shoot the hose at fake flames in the wood house to see how the fire hose works and the amount of water that it sprays. Brooke Miller was the winner of the 4th Grade Fire Safety Essay Contest and won the Dave Zelinsky Award. She received a trophy, her name on the plaque at Copopa, and a ride to school on the fire truck.
Citizens For Schools Postcard Contest
Luke Rumes was the Copopa winner for the Levy Postcard Contest! Luke's drawing will be on postcards mailed to 500 homes in the community. He also received a $50 gift card of his choice! Thank you to everyone that submitted an entry. It was a difficult job choosing a winner. You all did fantastic! Congratulations Luke!
Columbia Library Visited First Grade
Miss Amy and Miss Stephanie from the Public Library visited first grade classrooms and read aloud a text. Then each class collaboratively created a 3D woodland scene out of mixed media commonly found around the house including aluminum foil, pipe cleaners, cotton balls/pom-poms, yarn, etc. These 3D scenes will be displayed in the maker space for the next week or so. The leftover supplies will also be donated to the maker space.
First Grade had an Amazing Day for the Zoo!
Family Math and Literacy Night at Red Wagon Farm
This year at Red Wagon Farm, over 475 people came out to enjoy a nice fall evening as a family. Friends, families and faculty joined together to make the 6th annual Math and Reading Night at Red Wagon super special. We hope you had the best time ever, and we look forward to next year! Next year, there WILL be food options being served up and sold by Red Wagon staff! This food option will make this event better and better! Special thank you to all the staff who volunteered their time, to Scott Thomas who was the DJ, and to Shari and Eric Ross- who so generously allow us to use their facilities each year to have this one of a kind moment with each other. Our Raider Family truly is special. We are always looking to improve this incredible event, please email suggestions to:
