Fall PSAT for 8th Graders
On October 28th, 8th Grade Students will be participating in the PSAT 8/9. The PSAT serves two primary purposes. First, the PSAT is our primary measure that we use for High School course placement. Students may qualify for classes that provide more support, or more challenge, based on their performance on the PSAT (as well as in classes). Secondly, the PSAT 8/9 is your student's first experience with a standardized test aligned with College Board standards and practices. College Board is the organization that develops the assessments for SAT and AP Credit. To learn more, please visit their website at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10. Students will be testing during periods 1-5, with their 1st period teachers. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. May at cmay@barrington220.org.

Barrington Giving Day 2021
As the leaves begin to turn and we approach the season of giving, we often think about ways to help others. Barrington Middle School - Station Campus offers our students a way to help families within our school district who are in need through Barrington Giving Day.
Barrington Giving Day is a community non-profit organization designed to distribute needed items like coats, mittens, hats, toys, books and food for a holiday meal to needy district students and their families. Because Giving Day is held at Station, staff and students have a long time investment in supporting this tradition. Funds raised by Station students and staff are designated for the purchase of gifts for middle school aged children. (For more information see: http://www.barringtongivingday.org/ )
At Station, we encourage students to “Be a Part by Taking Part”. Between now and December, there will be many ways in which students can volunteer to help prepare for Barrington Giving Day. Please encourage your child to listen for student announcements about developing and participating in fundraising events, or bringing needed items for the book drive or winter wear drive.
If you have any questions concerning Barrington Giving Day at Station, please contact Jeanne Morgan at 847-756-6494.
Thank you for your support of this community effort.

Counselor Connection - Monthly Update!
In September during our SEL lessons we spoke with all students about the importance of reaching out to their trusted adults when they are in need of support. Students were also either introduced to or reminded of their counselor’s Schoology page Counselor Connection which all students have access to and houses helpful resources for anxiety and stress management as well as other useful student information.
This month Station recognizes two national awareness campaigns: Blue Shirt Day (bullying prevention) and Red Ribbon Week (substance use prevention). It is fitting then, that October’s monthly SEL lesson will focus on making healthy choices. In addition to our SEL lesson, students will participate in ColtTime activities to bring awareness to both bullying and substance use prevention.
We’d also like to take time to highlight B-StrongTogether.org an amazing organization we have in our own community that is committed to “Enhancing the health and well-being of Barrington area children and youth in mind, body, and spirit.” If you have not done so already, we highly encourage you to check out their website full of resources and upcoming events. They can also be followed on social media.
Finally, we are here for you too. If you have questions or concerns or are in search of additional resources, please reach out.
