Registration forms are available online or in person at the district office located in the Gananda Middle School at 1500 Dayspring Ridge, Walworth, NY 14568. *Please note: if you are currently enrolled in the Gananda UPK 4 program, you do not need to re-register for kindergarten.

Osgood-Schlatter disease is a common cause of knee pain in growing adolescents. It is an inflammation of the area just below the knee where the tendon from the kneecap (patellar tendon) attaches to the shinbone (tibia).

Physical activity puts additional stress on bones and muscles, children who participate in athletics — especially running and jumping sports — are at an increased risk for this condition. However, less active adolescents may also experience this problem.

In most cases of Osgood-Schlatter disease, simple measures like rest, ice, over-the-counter medication, and stretching and strengthening exercises will relieve pain and allow a return to daily activities.

Always consult with your pediatrician with any questions or concerns or before starting any pain regimen.

Kindergarten Screening for Fall 2021

Due to safety restrictions, having parents bring their child into the school for a screening appointment as we have done prior to June 2020, is not possible while school is in session. PreK teachers assess students attending our preschool program, three times a year. This last assessment period has begun and run through early June while students are attending school.

For anyone registering their child now for Kindergarten in the Fall or if your child has not been at the school this year, there will be dates available in late June, July and early August for screening appointments. We will reach out to families and make those connections.

RMES Virtual Book Fair

The Elementary School Library is hosting an online virtual book fair starting on May 28th running through June 10th. It will be an online option due to COVID restrictions and to keep our large student community safe, here at Richard Mann. Everything that is available at the in-person book fair will be available online, and then some! The book fair won't go live until the 28th, but the fair homepage can be visited here: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/richardmannelementaryschool There is free shipping on any order over $25, and each purchase still directly benefits our school library.

Now Open: Enrollment for RMES's YMCA Before and After School Program (BASP)

Some info about BASP:

  • AM care begins at 7am (we dismiss the kids when it's time to go to school)
  • PM care runs until 6pm
  • Preferential pricing is given to YMCA members (it is recommended to open a youth membership, as you will actually save money in the long run) but the program is open to all
  • We focus on our 9 core components: academic enrichment, college and career exploration, 21st century skills, service learning, arts education, leadership development, health and wellness, global learning, and parent and family engagement.
  • Within that framework, families can expect their child(ren) to receive help on homework, complete fun art projects, science experiences, play active games and sports, and make lasting and impactful relationships with their peers and counselors

2021 GMS Book Fair

The Gananda Book Fair was a huge success with our students. You still have a chance to shop for a friend or family member from the comforts of your home, by visiting the Scholastic Store Online and the Virtual Fair. The online store offers books for a wide age range from babies to adults. The Virtual Fair walks you through a lifelike experience of browsing shelves and selecting books for purchase on your computer. Online shopping for both options is available May 12-May 25th. A portion of all sales from the book fair go to our Gananda Middle School Library. That money will be used to purchase books for all of our students. Click this link to get to our GMS Book Fair homepage, and look for the photos below to shop online. Thank you for supporting our school book fair!

This year the Lost & Found has gone virtual. Please check out our post on ParentSquare.

If you recognize an item please send an emal to Missy Nims providing your child's name and we will get the item to your child.
