The Main Religion and Events

  • Protestant Christian denominations including Baptists.
  • There are many Major events that happen in the Bahamas every year, one of the most famous is Emancipation Day. Emancipation Day is a national holiday marking the emancipation of slaves in the British Empire and is celebrated on August 1st.

Government and Leaders

  • The main form of government is a Parliamentary Democracy. What this means that the Bahamas has a political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them
  • Some Leaders are Governor General Arthur Foulkes and Prime Minister Perry Christie.

  • Made up of over 700 isles/Islands.
  • The Arawak Indians were the first to inhabit the Bahamas in 13th Century.
