Argyle Band Earns Grand Champion Award In First Competition

What a start for the Argyle Band! The band performed in its first competition of the year at the Ponder Marching Contest. The Eagles finished first in all captions - music, marching, color guard, percussion and drum major performance.

The band will return to action Saturday as they compete at the Sounds of Springtown Marching Contest in Springtown. Congratulations to the Argyle band and director Jason Bird and good luck Saturday! The state championships for UIL band will be held Dec. 14-15 for classes 2A/4A and 6A.

November 3 School Board Election Results

Election Day included three seats on the Argyle ISD School Board up for election - Places 1-3. Here are the results of this year's election which are unofficial and will be canvassed by the School Board at the Monday, Nov. 16 Regular Board meeting.

PLACE 1
Craig Hawkesworth - 51.43% with 3,950 votes
Phyllis Clark - 48.57% with 3,731 votes

PLACE 2
John Bitter - 53.41% with 4,030 votes
Chad Gibson - 46.59% with 3,515 votes

PLACE 3
Sam Slaton - 100% with 6,630 votes

AHS Theatre Student Awarded Scholarship

Congratulation to Argyle High School senior theatre student Jackson Barnes! He was recognized and honored this week with a $4,000 scholarship in musical theatre from the Texas Educational Theatre Association. This week, theatre students at AHS have been auditioning for over 80 colleges for scholarships with the Virtual Texas Thespians Festival. AHS Theatre is led by director Melissa Toomer.

The Talon News...Making Big News!

Argyle High School's Talon News is the center of big news for the district with some great honors recently. Members of the Talon News were honored by the Texas Association of Journalism Educators with several outstanding awards. The honors included:


Katie Ray: Superior in News Feature Photo, Excellent in Digital Photo (Self-Portrait) and Excellent in Portfolio

Ashlynn Roberts: Superior in News Writing

Bobby Volling: Honorable Mention in First-Year Photo

Delaney Lechowit: Honorable Mention in First-Year Photo

Entire Talon Staff: Second Place in Digital News for Small School Category (5A and under)

#EagleTreatTour Shows Appreciation for Teachers & Staff

Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright and district leadership traveled across the district last week to recognize teachers and staff for the tremendous job they are doing this year. With many new circumstances as part of daily instruction, Argyle ISD's staff continues to do an amazing job serving our students and families.

Argyle ISD Celebrates Veterans Day Wednesday Nov. 11

Next Wednesday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day and Argyle ISD will pay tribute to our veterans across the five campuses.


Argyle High's Remedy A Cappella will share a special music video to honor veterans and Argyle Middle School's band is also making a special video to honor the different military branches.

Argyle Intermediate students have been writing letters to veterans and are being shared in Denton County. The AIS music class is also recording songs and making a short video. Hilltop Elementary is creating a virtual music program and Argyle West Elementary classes are also sending letters to veterans and the school will send out a video with a class performance and share an interview Counselor Mrs. Edge did with her father who is a veteran.

Argyle ISD is committed to keeping our staff, families and community updated of COVID-19 cases in the district. The district is sharing regular updates to our staff and families regarding actives cases on our campuses. Eagle Gameday: Argyle vs. Paris

The No. 1 state-ranked Argyle Eagles (9-0) travel to face Paris at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the regular season finale. The Eagles will be seeking their 61st consecutive district victory. The Eagles will open the Class 4A Division I playoffs next week.

Great Honor! Eagle Coach Named Baseball Coach of the Year

Argyle Eagle baseball coach Ricky Griffin has received a prestigious honor by the National Federation of State High School Associations. Griffin has been named the 2019-2020 state baseball coach of the year! Coach Griffin led the Eagles to the Class 4A state championship in 2019 with a 40-1-1 record and marked their second consecutive title. Congratulations to Coach Griffin!

Lady Eagle Volleyball Season Ends in Region Quarterfinals

The Argyle Lady Eagles' volleyball team concluded an outstanding season after falling to Decatur in the Class 4A Region I quarterfinal on Thursday. Through a season battling the challenges of COVID-19 that started in August, the Lady Eagles ended with a playoff run to the third round with victories against Benbrook and Iowa Park.


The Lady Eagles finished the season 22-9. Congratulations to Coach DeGroot, her staff and the Lady Eagles!
