It’s Time for U.I.L.!
Each year students across the district compete with students from other GCCISD elementary schools in the UIL tournament. The competition consists of 21 UIL events for 2nd-5th grade students and will be held at Goose Creek Memorial High School, January 27, 2023. Do you want to try out? "Respect" Character Celebration

Attendance Recovery & Incentives
Highlands Elementary Campus Attendance Goal = 97%!
Hawk Rally - We will recogninze students with Perfect Attendance and those who meet the campus attendance goal of 97% at the end of each nine weeks grading period.
Saturday Recovery will be Saturday, October 22, from 8 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
If your child has been absent 5 or more days this school year, excused or unexcused, then you will receive a letter and permission form. Saturday Recovery does not erase an absence. It recovers lost instructional time. Please monitor your child's attendance this school year, and speak wih the attendance clerk if you have any questions or concerns.
Saturday Recovery Sessions will occur on the following dates:
October 22nd, January 7th, March 25th, and May 13th
- If 5-8 absences, student will attend one Saturday session.
- If 10-14 absences, student will attend two Satruday Recovery sessions.
- If 15-18 absences, student will attend three Saturday Recovery sessions.
- If 19 or more absences, student will attendfour Saturday Recovery sessions and also attend summer school in June.
Nurse's Corner
Please conduct daily assessments. If your child is ill or exhibiting fever, please stay home. Please provide a written absence excuse when your child returns from an absence. Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 or have close contact with someone testing positive for COVID-19 should contact Nurse Marquez. Parents are encouraged to contact the school nurse with any questions.
