Woods Lake Elementary

Weekly Update May 03-07, 2021

Hello Woods Lake Family,

As we welcome May flowers, remember to take a moment to smell them! It has been an eventful year with new routines, flexibility and patience for everyone. Thank you for all that you do in ensuring that your child is logged on, given a workspace to learn, and supported.

We have summer books for our students in grades 2 to 5. These are books that are to be read this summer and brought with students to their class in the fall. Please come to the building to pick up your child's book and other needed materials.

Our Superintendent Dr. Raichoudhuri presented information on the 2021-22 school year during two virtual town hall sessions last week. The town hall recording; slides in English, Spanish and Arabic, and additional 2021-22 school year resources (including opt-in/opt-out forms) can be found on the website.

As always, Stay Safe and Stay Healthy!

Academically Talented/Avant-Garde 2021-22

Any student who has already been identified for A/T will be invited to participate next year, regardless of whether they participated this year. We understand that this year was a unique year and that many families chose not to participate; therefore there is no penalty for this. We will let families know that if they wish to opt-out again, they may do so by contacting the elementary education office.

Kalamazoo Communities in Schools (KCIS)

Woods Lake CIS ASP soon will be accepting Think Summer applications from students that are currently in our program. Due to capacity, we will not be able to accept new-to-program applicants.

A friendly reminder that CIS is available for a variety of needs. Our Kid’s Closet offers basic needs resources such as clothing, hygiene, and school supplies. CIS is also available to assist with vision needs for your student if necessary. Tutoring help is unfortunately limited, but please reach out if you have any questions or concerns regarding your student.
