Thornhill Elementary PFC Newsletter
Volume 26, Issue 16, November 27, 2018
From the PFC President
Ah yes...it's that time of the year. The air (at last) is clear. The holiday season has officially begun, and football season is really kicking into gear. Maybe your college team has a bowl game on the horizon? Maybe your pro team looks headed for the playoffs? Maybe you happen to be a fan of the Canadian Football League and spent last Sunday reveling in the glory of the Grey Cup?
Whatever has your attention, there is a lot of stuff coming up to keep you active over the next three-and-a-half weeks until the Winter Break. This newsletter, and the calendar at the bottom of it, remain a great source for what's going on at Thornhill, and our VP of Communications, Erin Proudfoot, loves nothing more that updating information via Konstella (right, Erin?) so check that out if you have any questions about what's on the calendar ahead.
And speaking of sources of information...The next PFC Board Meeting will be Monday, December 10, from 6-7 p.m. Any and all parents are welcome, and a splendid time is guaranteed for all.

Walkathon Pledge Reminder!
Just a quick reminder that your final Walkathon donations are due by Wednesday Nov 28 (TOMORROW!). Drop those last few checks in the box in the office—there are still outstanding pledges and we’d love to bring in that money to support our blue ribbon kids! Also, we’ll distribute the fundraising prizes once we have everything documented.
You can login to your child’s fundraising webpage to see the status of all their pledges, or we can check for you to let you know what’s outstanding.
So far, the 2018 Turkey Trot Walkathon has brought in $21,500 (86% of our $25,000 goal)—please help us finish in this last stretch for PE, art, and other critical activities!
Thanks for your continued support!

Please join us in celebrating Thornhill’s 60th Anniversary at our annual Benefit Auction, Saturday March 2, 2019 at the Colombo Club. And we’re having an Early “Thunder” Bird Sale through Friday, November 30!
With district budget cuts threatening us every year, the auction allows us to keep our school one of the best in Oakland Unified. Please help us keep our performing/visual art programs available; our top-notch aides in the classrooms, and our library doors open.
If you buy now, you can also pre-purchase bundles of drink tickets at a discounted price. Avoid the lines and start the party right away! Prices go up December 1 so buy your tickets here now!
Thank You For Your Library Donations!
The library is very excited to welcome some new titles to our collection, with much appreciation and many thanks to the following families/people: Urbano, Yokomizo, Kordosky, the P15 classroom, families who contributed titles to the book swap, and the unknown purchaser of The Beautiful Game (Amazon did not pass on the buyer's info—whoever that was: THANK YOU!).
If you want to see more of the Thornhill library wishlist, you can check it out here. Thanks so much for your continued support of the library!
