National School Counseling Week Feb 6-10 This special week honors school counselors for the important role they play in helping students examine their talents, strengths, abilities, and interests. Our theme this year is Helping Students Dream Big! School counselors work in professional partnerships with teachers and support personnel to provide an educational system where students can realize their true potential. As all educators focus their efforts on improving academic achievement for all students, it is important that we recognize school counselors for their continuing efforts in reducing barriers to learning and in providing the support necessary for all students to achieve at the highest level. Thank you to Mrs. Carver for all you do to support our school, students, teachers, and families! | Readers are Leaders! Our kindergarten students won the January competition for most minutes read this month put on by Mrs. Garrett, our fabulous school librarian! Mrs. Garrett also hosted our first Lions in the Library night which was a huge success! Thank you all for coming out! We plan to have another library event in 4th quarter! While our library advocates for avid readers, she is also quite the artist and has created many beautiful signs and displays around our school that celebrate the 7 Habits that promote leadership in our students, staff and community! | It's Kindness Month Our Future Teachers Club went into classrooms last week to teach students about filling each others emotional bank accounts, EBA. The Student Lighthouse Team has placed large hearts all around the school, so that students may give shout-outs to staff and students for their random acts of kindness. Please ask your child what they have learned about the importance of filling other EBA! Our counseling classes will be focusing on ways we can all improve in showing kindness, caring and empathy to others! |

Readers are Leaders!

Celebrate Black History Month Teachers will celebrate Black History Month with students through cross-curricular activities, reading about African-American history and culture, and learning about African American Inventors along with other activities. When we truly Synergize, we celebrate each other! Celebrating others and their culture is also a great way to make deposits into someone's EBA! | Mardi Gras Holidays School is out February 20-24 to celebrate the Mardi Gras Holidays.
