Alta Vista's Math Olympiad team continues show amazing results in nationwide competitions. They recently completed the fourth of five olympiads and have consistently scored in the top 10% of all teams. Our students continue to impress us with their persistence and dedication, whether working independently or collaborating during weekly sessions.

Thank you to our volunteer coaches, Nir Azriel and Gautam Gopinadhan, for their efforts in bringing Math Olympiad back to Alta Vista.

This week, we meet Poornima Sridharan, a teacher on Alta Vista's second grade team.

What is your favorite thing about Alta Vista?

As a first time teacher in the United States, I have received so much kindness and support from all my colleagues and staff to help me be good at my job. The trust and camaraderie amongst the staff and parents is amazing and I love being here with my students every single day!

Tell us about your family.

I grew up in India with my parents and younger brother. Me and my husband, Ganesh have been married for over 12 years and have 2 lovely boys, Shreyas and Thejas.

What do you like to do when you are not at school?

I love singing and listening to music. I have also recently started working out and I've been loving it so far.

Let's gather in the cafeteria as a community to help make no-sew fleece blankets for local unhoused and hospitalized children for Project Linus. All supplies are provided by the Home and School Club and all training will be provided. Advance signups are required - please sign up here.
