Big picture

The faculty and staff at LCS wish you and your family a wonderful summer! We praise God for seeing us through another school year at LCS! Thanks for making our school awesome!

This will be the FINAL (abbreviated) newsletter for this school year! Our last day of school will be this Friday, June 7. We will be dismissing at 11:30 am!

Much preparation for the 2019-2020 school year takes place over the summer months at Legacy Christian. If you have business with the school we encourage you to call or email at your convenience. At the west campus, office hours will be from 8:00 am-12:00 pm, Monday-Thursday. The office is closed on Friday's. The office will be closed July 1-5 and on August 1.

*The elementary office is closed for the summer.

*Reminder that Final Tuition payments are due in June unless you have made arrangements with the Finance Committee. Thanks you for your prompt payments!

Back to School packets will be mailed the week of August 12, 2019. Much of the information in this packet (including class lists and busing information) is dependent on accurate enrollment information. Thank you for returning your enrollment papers promptly!!

Parents and Friends of Legacy Christian are invited to join the K-7th grade students for the final All School Worship this Friday, June 7, at 8:15 am, in the elementary gym. 8th graders who wish to join us are also welcome! Let's end our year together with praise to God for seeing us through another great school year!

We need walkers! And we need candy! It's time to show your school spirit! Cutlerville Days will be here soon and we need your help! Would you and your family be willing to walk in the parade with the Legacy Christian float? Would you be willing to donate non-melting candy to give out at the parade? The parade will take place this Saturday, June 8, beginning at 9:30 am. Please sign up today if you are willing to help us in any way!
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0D44A8AA2BA13-cutlerville5 Please note: Young students MUST be accompanied by an adult! Candy donations should be dropped off in either school office by TODAY! If you have any questions, please contact Kim Zwyghuizen (616-455-3860).

Calling All Clowns: The Cutlerville Clown Band is again tuning up for the Cutlerville Days Parade. We would love to have some new clowns in the mix. Contact Dave and Joan at djhaagsma@yahoo.com if you are interested or need more information. Open to grades 7 through age 70.

If you still have your Legacy yard sign from previous years, please put it out in your yard now! This is the time many families are considering where to send their students in the fall. We want to continue to get our name into the community! It's so nice to see the "What's your Legacy?" signs pop up around the area! There is no charge for these signs and they are available in both buildings near the office. We are proud of Legacy Christian and everything we have to offer! Take one home TODAY!

Calling all moms, dads, siblings, babysitters, friends, students, etc... This summer we will be having Legacy Playground Playdates! Enjoy adult conversation while the kids play at the elementary playground and get to know other Legacy families or families from our community! All are invited - any age, grade, new family, current family, past family, and friends. Grab a coffee and meet us on selected Friday mornings (June 14, 28, August 2 and 16) throughout the summer for a fun morning of playing outside and getting to know other Legacy families. We will meet from 9:30-10:30 am. Feel free to come and go during that time, or stay longer if you wish. If there is inclement weather, the play date will be cancelled. Watch the Legacy Parent Facebook page for updates on the mornings of scheduled play date days. Questions? Contact Kim Zwyghuizen - kzwyghuizen@legacycs.org or 616-455-3860.

Legacy Christian is blessed with many wonderful supporters who often find very innovative ways to contribute to our school. A prime example of “innovative ways to support Legacy’s mission” is our 8th grade scholarship.

Quite a few years ago a pair of generous anonymous supporters (husband and wife) established two 8th grade scholarships here at Legacy Christian. Each scholarship is for $500 and is applied directly to the student’s tuition account. The award is meant to be an honor and recognition of “doing the right things”. It is awarded to two students (one boy and one girl) who show by their lives and actions that they are respectful, compassionate and trustworthy. Scholarship winners also clearly display their commitment to Jesus Christ. In short, they are recognized for living their lives as “Christ-Followers and Kingdom-Builders”.

Each year west campus faculty and staff are given the opportunity to suggest 7th graders for consideration. Those suggestions become names on a ballot and the staff and faculty are then encouraged to vote for the award recipients. Generally the suggestions are numerous and the ballot is long. This year was no exception! We are very proud of our entire 7th grade!

The 2019-2020 8th grade Kingdom Builder Scholarship recipients are Ellia Agar (Jason and Tammi) and Nick Logan (Brett and Lynne). Congratulations, Ellia and Nick! We are pleased to recognize each of you and know you will join your classmates in making 2019-2020 a fantastic year at Legacy Christian.

  • June 7 - Last All School Worship (8:15)

  • Elementary Report Cards will go home with the students on Friday, June 7.
  • Please check the Lost and Found table near the office. There are many items that need to be "found" before the end of the school year! All items that are not claimed will be donated!
  • All incoming Kindergarten, Young 5's and Preschool parents for 2019-20, please remember to have a green health form filled out over the summer with your doctor’s stamp or signature on it. There was a form included in your enrollment packet. A new form is required every year for the “early childhood” classes. PLEASE NOTE—If your child has an immunization waiver you will need to make an appointment with the Kent County Health Department. We can no longer supply necessary paperwork out of the school office. All health forms will need to be turned in to the school office before your student can begin classes in the fall. School starts on Aug. 26, 2019.
