Need to Know Information
First Day of School: The first day is Tuesday, August 23, 2022. If you would like to walk your kindergarten-6th grade student in to the junior high gym or preschool student to their classroom on the first day, please park in the parking lot and utilize the cross walk when entering the building! We ask after the first day, you utilize the drop-off lane or bus services. This provides an easier transition for most students.
Drop Off Times: Students should not be dropped off earlier than 7:25 AM. We do not have supervision until that time. If you are bringing your child to school, please wait to have your child exit your vehicle until a staff member is outside greeting students. The tardy bell rings at 7:50 AM so students need to be at school by that time.
Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures: All students who are being brought to school by their parents should be dropped off at the Elementary front entrance utilizing the carline. (see blue line on image below.) This is the lane that runs by the sidewalk closest to the front of the building. Dismissal for PK is in the front carline (blue line on image below). Kindergarten through 6th grade dismissal is at the Library Media Center doors. Families will form a line by the back of high school gym (red line on image below) and wait to to pull forward until a staff member comes out to motion them to the library media entrance (yellow line on image below). We will load students curbside by numbered cones and ask that you pull forward to help your child buckle up. We also ask you follow the car in front of you and not pull out of order. Thanks for helping make our carline safe and efficient!
New Tardy Policy and Wildly Important Goal: This year we want to emphasize the importance of students arriving to school on time! Therefore, we will be monitoring tardies and late arrivals. If your child receives two or more tardies in a two week time span, you will receive a call from our Assistant Principal, Mr. Mullins. If your child has four tardies in a two week timespan, your child will have to attend after school detention and/or miss recess to make up for lost learning time. You will be notified if this occurs. We believe that establishing good habits of arriving to school on time is an essential skill students need to be successful in life. We are making our Schoolwide Wildly Important Goal (WIG) reflect this belieft. Our WIG is "90% of Crane Pirates will arrive to school on time and ready to learn each day." We will be measuring this monthly. We know we can increase our attendance rate, simply by focusing on getting students to school on time!
Preschool Students' First Day: Preschool families will be able to walk their child down to the classroom on the first day of school. Then we encourage the parents to attend the BooHoo WooHoo Party in the preschool commons area.
BooHoo WooHoo Party: CSCO is hosting a BooHoo WooHoo Party on the first day of school for parents of preschool and kindergarten students directly after dropping their kindergartener off in the junior high gym or preschooler in his/her classroom. This party is to recognize the mixed emotions of the beginning educational journey! BooHoo, they might be growing up before your eyes, but WooHoo, they are going to have so much fun learning and making new friends! We hope you will come to enjoy a donut and coffee.
Meal Prices: Students who eat breakfast and/or lunch at school will be charged this school year. We encourage families to turn in completed free and reduced meal applications to see if they qualify for either free or reduced meal prices. Non-reduced prices are:
K-5th Breakfast=$1.50
K-5th Lunch= $2.75
6th-12th Breakfast= $1.80
6th-12th Lunch= $3.25
Adult Breakfast= $2.50
Adult Lunch= $3.75
Snack Milk or Extra Milk= $0.45 per carton
Preschool Sessions: We have AM preschool sessions and PM preschool sessions. The AM preschool session is from 7:50 AM-11:00 AM. Students can be dropped off as early as 7:25 AM. The PM session is from 12:20 PM-3:30 PM. Students can be dropped off as early as 12:15 PM. We do ask your child to remain in the car until our preschool staff come outside to begin unloading students curbside. Preschool pickup is in the front carline. During preschool dismissal, we will load students curbside and ask that you pull forward to buckle your child up. The pick-up process is easier if everyone utilizes the carline by arriving to school at 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Remember, we will be checking IDs of those families we do not know yet so please make sure you have your ID ready to check and you let the office know if someone other than who is on your child's emergency contact list is picking your child up.
Boys & Girls Club: Boys & Girls Club (BGC) is accepting applications for students to attend after school care until 7 PM each night and 7:30 AM-5:30 PM on Monday evenings. It costs $30 for the entire school year August 23-May 25. Students do not have to attend every day. If you would like to sign your child up, please contact the Elementary office so we can send home an application to you or call Chasity Shirkey or Landri Johnson. Remember, your child can attend once you get approval from the BGC staff.
