Class Pictures and Yearbooks!
UNDERCLASSMEN PICTURES SEPTEMBER 8 & 9
Ninth, tenth and eleventh graders will have their pictures taken for the yearbook and IDs on September 8 & 9. Ninth and tenth graders will go to the photographer with their PE teacher and eleventh graders will go to the photographer with their English teacher. If students do not have a PE class, they can go to the photographer during their study hall, or from 8:45-9:15. If you have any questions, you can contact underclass@vosphoto.com.

Rock Ridge Fine Arts!
Chorus and TriM
Rockappella - Any student interested in singing with Rock Ridge's a cappella group is welcome to join us on Friday mornings from 8:15-9:00 a.m. in the Chorus room (1817). Our first rehearsal will be on Friday, September 10 and all are welcome!
Tri-M Music Honor Society - Students interested in joining the Tri-M Music Honor Society should join the Schoology Group and read the Tri-M expectations and application. The Schoology Group Code for Tri-M is 6FS2-FW5M-HDVDW See Mr. Markwood in room 1817 (Chorus) with any questions.
- Eligibility - Tri-M student members must be enrolled in at least one music ensemble class for a minimum of one semester prior to applying, have a B average grade in their core classes, and an A average grade in their music class(es), and be of strong character.
RRPA
Breakfast on Stage – (Date Change) 9/9 at 8:40am: RRPA will be hosting “Breakfast on Stage” with bagels, doughnuts, waffles, and fruit starting at 8:40am on September 8th. Anyone is welcome. It will be on a first come first serve basis.
Fall Play Auditions and Tech Crew Interviews: 9/8 or 9/9 from 4pm – 5:30pm - Auditions and Interviews for our Fall Play will be September 8th and 9th from 4pm – 5:30pm. No need to prepare anything! Just be ready to have some fun!

Dual Enrollment Next Year—PLEASE REGISTER—Fall Deadline is September 10th
If you are taking a Dual Enrollment Science, Social Studies, English or Theater course and it is with RBC of William & Mary Click here . IF you are in 11th or 12 grade taking Pre-Calculus please register with RBC. This is a pilot DE course this year. We only have about half the DE students are currently registered with RBC. Please note you need to register to be awarded the college credit.
6 College credits are award for DE English

8 College credits are awarded for DE Science
6 College credits for DE Pre-Calc
3 College credits for the Theatre Course (DE Stagecraft is 2 credits)

9/13: Senior Night at 6:30 PM– This event will be VIRTUAL and will be available on demand after 6:30 PM. Learn all about preparing for life post high school with a strong emphasis on the college application process. The link to participate will be sent to all Senior families within 24 hours of the event.
9/24: Junior Parent Coffee at 8:30 AM. This event will be VIRTUAL. Learn what your junior should be focused on this year as they start to prepare for their senior year and beyond. The link to participate will be sent to all Junior families within 24 hours of the event.
9:24: Governor’s Summer Residential Program Info Session – Juniors and Sophomores, if you are thinking of applying, I strongly encourage you to attend this session. Come during your designated lunch. The presentation will be 25 mins. You may grab lunch from the cafeteria quickly and eat lunch in the Career Center. If this is a day you go to Academies there will be presentations at the Academies. Please sign up on Naviance.
10/6: Fin Aid Night at Independence High School - What is Financial Aid? How do I apply? What factors make up my financial aid award? How do I qualify for the most $$$? These questions and more will be covered in our Financial Aid 101 session. Information is applicable to ALL institutions. Q&A will be open all evening to address your individual questions.
10/13: FAFSA Complete Night at Independence High School - Learn the Ins and Outs of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Common questions, concerns, and filing errors. Information is applicable to ALL institutions. Q&A will be open all evening to address your individual questions!

NEWS YOU CAN USE:
9/10: SOL Testing - Students who took a course through Virtual Loudoun this summer, and any other student identified for September SOL testing, will receive an email next week in their LCPS email account with their testing information. This email will include the test name, location, time, any accommodations if applicable, and a reminder to bring their LCPS Chromebook fully charged as well as their charger. The SOL test date will be next Friday, September 10th.
The VA Space Grant Consortium Summer programs are now accepting registrations. Please see the attached documents for information. NOTE be sure to complete your application early enough as your Counselor will need to verify GPA, grade level and other information about you.
Undocumented/DACA Students – NOVA has created a website to assist with applying to and transitioning to NOVA. Learn more here.
