Scholastic Book Fair
There's still one last chance to shop the Scholastic Book Fair on Tuesday, March 19 from 3-8 p.m. Franklin earns 70% of sales back as Scholastic Dollars this spring. We'll earn enough during this fair that every classroom teacher will have 50 Scholastic Dollars to spend next fall, so our students are always getting the newest books and supplies in their classrooms.
Milk Moola - Last Chance to Submit
Kwik Trip truly did end the Milk Moola program effective as of 12/31/18 and yet, you may have noticed products still have the lids. We officially have until 3/31/19 to get our last package mailed. Therefore, you can put labels and lids in the container on the Franklin Collection Center until Thursday, March 21. After that, please recycle them as Franklin will no longer accept them.
Do you have markers that need to be recycled?
Franklin PTO is re-purposing the Milk Moola bin to collect markers and highlighters of any brand that need to be recycled. Crayola has a ColorCycle program (hyperlink: https://www.crayola.com/colorcycle.aspx) that recycles them at no cost to us, so why not try to limit what gets thrown in landfills. While you're in Franklin, check out all the posters promoting the program that the ACES community service club made.
Do you know an area business that will donate to help Franklin create the ultimate package for Educare Foundation?
All area PTOs are asked to provide a package or item for the Educare Foundation’s spring benefit. Educare supports the Mankato Area School District exclusively with any funds they raise. Franklin's package this year is conceptualized as Love in Minnesota and we need help adding items to the package.
This Love in Minnesota package is for anyone who has a love in Minnesota or a love of our State of Minnesota and will feature Minnesota experiences or items.
Ideally, the high bidder will leave the benefit with a few items, but also have gift certificates for local mini adventures. Maybe it’s a way for a local couple to show their love for each other.
Do you know an area business owner that you’d be willing to ask for a donation? Do you own or work for a local business that would be willing to donate an item? Do you make and sell items? If you can help us complete Franklin’s Educare package, please contact Tracy Ball at tracywaxball@gmail.com or text/call 608-642-2249 by April 5.
Have you ordered a yearbook yet?
The Franklin Elementary School 2018-2019 Yearbook is currently on sale through April 1 for $13 each. To order a full-color, soft-sided yearbook for your student, either return the Lifetouch order form with payment or order online at https://ybpay.lifetouch.com School ID Code: 11838219
Do you want to help shape next year's PTO activities and budget?
Plan to attend the April 2 PTO meeting, as elections will be held for 2019-20 PTO officers and we'll start a discussion on funding priorities for next year. The April 2 PTO meeting runs from 6:30-7:30 in the Media Center and all are invited to attend. Free child care will be available.

Want to give a shout out?
We are inviting families to email Mr. Olson when their child(ren) have a successful experience outside of school. The celebration will then be included in the morning school wide announcement. Ideas of things that families might want announced: winning a soccer tournament, moving up to a new tae kwon do belt, participating in the regional science fair, etc. If you have something that you'd like us to recognize your child(ren) for, email tolson1@isd77.k12.mn.us.
