Math Teachers Selected to Serve on State & National Posts
Hobgood is President of the South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics
West Florence's Alisa Hobgood was elected President at the annual South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (SCCTM), conference. She will begin her duties as President-Elect in November 2020 and then serve as the President of the organization for the following two terms.
During this time, she will help conduct meetings, serve on the budget committee, appoint committee members, help carry out the aims of the organization, and serve as the site chair for the annual conference and business meeting.
Carter is 2020 Assistant to the Chief Reader for AP Calculus

RALI Cares Program Informs Community
The RALI CARES program recently made its first stop in the State of South Carolina at West Florence High School. Local law enforcement, teachers, and community leaders attended the event to learn about warning signs of drug use and/or misuse among young people:

Gifts of Grants for Favorite Things Provided Ruiz Foods
1. Mathematics - The funds will be used for Math Literacy, designed to increase student achievement through the use of educational math stories that engage, motivate, and make learning fun.

2. Science - The funds will be used to buy cooking supplies which will go toward teaching children about nutrition, food safety, measurement, life science, literacy, and it will help with fine motor development.

3. Language Immersion - The funds will be used to purchase books to support students and parents in the school’s Language Immersion Program, allowing for the purchase of books in Spanish & English languages providing resources for use in both the classroom and at home.

Wymbs Accepts Superintendency in Dorchester 4
Dorchester School District 4 is located in St. George, South Carolina, and Dr. Wymbs will begin his assignment in January, 2020.
Wymbs has served as Director of Secondary Education in Florence 1 Schools since 2015.
