Possible Strike Announced by WVEA
November 30, 2019
Notice to Parents, Students, Staff, and Community Members
As you may know, Willapa Valley has been in contract negotiations with the WVEA teachers’ union since June 14. Negotiations have transitioned to mediation.
The WVEA has informed the Willapa Valley School District of the possibility of a teacher strike if the District and the Association do not reach an agreement by 4:00 PM on Monday, December 2.
The District and the Association will continue to mediate on Monday, December 2 beginning at 9:30 AM, and the District will continue to bargain in good faith.
However, in the event of a teacher strike, school will be cancelled.
The District will communicate with parents and staff as soon as further information is available.
Information on negotiations is available on the Willapa Valley School District website at www.willapavalley.org. If you have questions, please call the Willapa Valley District Office at 360-942-5855.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through this issue.
