Celebrating Halloween at Holmes: Information Item
Halloween is an exciting time at Holmes School and our annual parade is something our community looks forward to each year. As we prepare for our Halloween celebration this week, we want to remind you of a few things.
Please remember
- no weapons (knives, guns, etc) or portrayals of violence
- no blood-like paint
- no culturally offensive costumes
- classroom parties will be food-free celebrations
- all visitors must check in at the office before going to classrooms
If you have a party at a time other than after the parade, please be sure the office has those times so they are ready to receive parent volunteers.
We also recognize that not all students participate in these activities and therefore plan alternate activities for students with Ms. Jaros in the library. If you have any parents who reach out and have objected to their children participating, please add their names to this Google doc so that Jenn Jaros knows who to expect in the library.

PBIS Updates - Action Item
Feathers – Special Request: Please give out 10 feathers a day and be intentional about telling the student why they are getting the feather linked to one of our positive school-wide behaviors. If we all commit to this we will start seeing a boost in good behaviors.
Amazing Resource – PBIS WORLD (link)! Teachers can pick a target behavior that a student is exhibiting and it provides them with various strategies to implement immediately and data tracking tools to track what works. Check it out! If you need guidance using the website, please ask Parisa or Kate Rojas!
MTSS Follow-up Items: Action Items
IMPORTANT:
- Here is the MTSS Data Days spreadsheet we worked on
- ACTION ITEM: Notice the students where YOUR NAME is marked as the interventionist- You are responsible for conducting the intervention (guided reading or guided math) at least 2-3 times per week and you are progress monitoring in Aimsweb every other week for Tier 2 students!
- Every other week check off your TO DO List in Branching Minds. They will send you a reminder email (Tutorial Here- it's easy!)
INFORMATIONAL:
- Intervention letters will be in your mailbox by Monday afternoon. Please make sure you talk to parents and make a "first contact" before sending the letter home or handing it over at conferences
- We will begin new intervention groups on Monday 10/22 (Erin will be out that week- her groups will not be picked up. Terese Parr will be seeing my groups, but she will be out 10/29-31)
- If you haven't had a chance- Record your guided reading and guided math groups in this Google Folder. Feel free to reach out to Marianne if you would like help.
