Do you think you have earned enough community service hours for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award? If so, please print the "logging in hours" document attached and follow the directions. Don't know if you have enough hours? Look at the "criteria" document. See Ms. Browning or Ms. Moniz if you have any questions.

Are you between the ages of 15 and 17 and seriously considering a career in law enforcement? If so, you may want to consider attending the Youth Cadet Law Enforcement Student Trooper Program, an intense one-week residential summer program at the Mass State Police Academy. Application available in the guidance office.

MassHire Greater New Bedford Career Center is excited to announce we have officially released our 2020 Summer Youth Works Program Application!

The Greater New Bedford Work Force is offering Heart Saver CPR courses to ORRHS students free of charge. Both the course and the 2-year certification card are included.If you are in need of CPR certification for a summer job (babysitting, camp counselor, sailing instructor etc) get this course now and make yourself more marketable!Space is limited- so sign up in Front Office- 12 spaces per session – Sign up is a commitment and on a first come first serve basis. The class will be offered on March 11th, from 2:00- 3:30 pm Class will be held in the Library Commons.

Attention seniors:

· Please submit your yellow sheets to your guidance counselor 10 school days before your deadline.

· Please bring copies of your college acceptance letters to guidance.

Seniors, be sure to check the guidance webpage or Naviance often for current scholarship opportunities. The list is updated every 7-10 days. If you have any questions please stop by guidance to ask.

Seniors – A representative from Cape Cod Community College will be here on Thursday, March 12, for “On The Spot College Acceptance Day”. Senior students are offered same day admittance. To take advantage of this one time opportunity, please see your guidance counselor to sign up by Monday, March 9th.

The Guidance Department will be offering Naviance support for juniors interested in working on their resumes/senior questionnaires and/or conducting a college search in the English Computer Lab during bulldog block on March 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20. Sign up with your mentor under guidance.

Are you a current Junior interested in learning about the admissions process to the US Naval Academy? Would you like to hear about the Academy's Summer Seminar program where selected students can go through a week at the Academy this June? If so, please sign up in guidance to attend an information session that will be held on Friday, March 13, at 9:50, in the media room.

Upper Cape Tech College Fair: Thursday, March 19 from 6:30 - 8:00pm in the school’s gymnasium located at 220 Sandwich Road in Bourne. More than 60 colleges, technical schools, and military representatives will be available to meet with interested students about post-secondary opportunities and admissions requirements. Additionally, several institutions, including two and four-year colleges, technical schools, and military branches, will offer “on the spot” admissions interviews for current seniors between 5:00 - 6:00pm. This is open to all area high school seniors who have not yet decided on a college for next fall. Appointments are not required.

National College Fair, Providence, RI on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 from 5:30pm-8:30pm at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Register at


National College Fair, Boston, on Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1, 2020 at the BOSTON CONVENTION & EXPOSITION CENTER

This college fair is the largest college fair in the region, with hundreds of colleges and universities from around the world in one place. This event is FREE and open to the public.

GirlsGetMath@Stonehill is a five-day non-residential mathematics program at Stonehill College. It is open to high schoolers who live in or near the Easton, MA area who will be entering the 10th or 11th grade in the fall of 2020. GirlsGetMath@Stonehill invites students to explore the mathematical sciences in an open and encouraging setting. Hands-on activities, interactive lectures, and daily computer labs are led by accomplished professional faculty who are enthusiastic about serving as scientific mentors and discussing a variety of careers that utilize a mathematical background. Potential topics include cryptography, data science, image processing, prime numbers and factoring, and mathematical modeling. Dates: July 13-17; tuition is $100, full scholarships are available; Applications open in early March and the deadline to apply is May 22. For more information please contact Leyda at

Southcoast G.R.I.T. will be running in the New Bedford Half Marathon on Sunday March 15 starting at 11am. If you see these students and teachers around throughout the week, wish them luck in the race this weekend or come cheer them on at the race.
