Family Briar "Cliff" Notes
October 2020
Briarcliff is a community that nurtures strong relationships, which inspire confident, responsible, life-long learners.
Teachers, administrators, students, and community members gathered monthly last year to create our NKC Portrait of a Graduate. These are the competencies that we want ALL students to gain proficiency in through their educational experiences in NKC Schools.
As a district we will begin by studying our Portrait of a Graduate competencies and unwrapping each of those. Next, we will learn deeply about competency-based education and how schools around the nation have tackled this transformative educational reform. We will begin to think about how this transforms instruction, specifically focusing on design thinking experiences for students. This focus and work will help define learning experiences and measurement tools for each of these competencies.

Playground - Soccer Fields - REPEAT
Last fall, the two of them had approx. 25 truckloads of dirt brought in to level off the grass area SE of the school building. The field was then reseeded. Throughout this past spring the field was mowed, lined and goals set up. One field is 60' x 90' and the other soccer field is 80' x 120'
This community work is associated with the non for profit organization, Briarcliff Trails of Our Community, which Tim Johnston and his daughter Jenny Johnston founded in 2009. This has all been done in an effort to contribute to our community and to Briarcliff school.
