Brookwood Monthly Newsletter
From the Desk of . . . Jacqueline Cubberly, Principal
I hope this message finds you well.
Thank you for attending Parent Teacher conferences and investing in your child's education.
In today's world, now more than ever, we need to work together to ensure that our children have postive learning experiences that broaden their perspectives and open doors.
Reading is the key that unlocks those doors and allows for adventures, laughter, suspense and much more.
Additionally, foundational math skills are essential for everyday life, regardless of the path our children choose.
Continue to encourage the importance of education and working with teachers to help your child to work hard, learn and dream big.
As we approach the holiday season, be sure to check out PTO events, Brookwood's Family Code Night and more.
Be safe and well.
Computer Science Education Week
Computer Science Education Week, or CSEd Week is celebrated December 6 to 12. Computer Science Education Week aims to get K-12 students interested in computer coding.
During the second week in December, students are encouraged to take part in an “Hour of Code.”
Computer Science Education Week also highlights the importance of computer science which is an important subject teaching problem-solving and analytical skills, and is an essential skill in the modern job market.
The week of December 6-12 was chosen in honor of Grace Hopper’s birthday. She was born on December 9, 1906, and is known as the pioneer of computer programming.

Fourth Grade B201 - Mrs. Krusen's Class
The students in B201 participated in a LIVE experiment via Zoom with Dr. Drizzle and Defined Learning. The students learned about the UN's 17 Goals and specifically focused on Number 6, Clean Water and Sanitation. The students met with other students from around the country to discuss ideas on how to provide clean water to those in need. In the live Zoom a few of our own students shared ideas for a water filtration system, and also asked questions to help with creating an everyday water filter.

CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH - Generosity
Character Traits are universal, regardless of age, culture or language spoken.
It's about being a good person and knowing the difference between right and wrong, and always trying to do what is right!
The "Character Trait" for the month of December is GENEROSITY.
GENEROSITY - The willingness to give or share; unselfish
Last month's trait was Gratitude and this month's trait is Generosity, my apologies.
