Open House for 4-H Enrollment

Monday, April 1st from 4 - 6:30 p.m. we will be at Kimmel Education and Research Center in Nebraska City. We will be helping to enroll in Otoe County 4-H and answer questions you may have!

Hunting and Outdoor Skills offers a wide variety of hands on learning activities for 4-H youth. This discipline is not limited to “prey hunting”. Hunting and Outdoor Skills teaches life skills at every turn. It crosses over to most other project areas in 4-H. A small example of the nearly limitless areas that can be covered within this discipline are:

The Nebraska Extension in Otoe County is accepting donations of old, clean jeans for use in 4-H summer workshops. Please deliver to the Extension Office at 620 1st Street in Syracuse. Thank you.

Adventure Day at 4-H Camp

Saturday June 15, 2019 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Ages: 6-11 years old

Cost: $35 per person. 1 adult meal is included per child registration. Adult chaperones are encouraged to attend, but not required The Otoe County 4-H Foundation Camping Scholarships support this camp!

Seward Calf Classic Canceled

The Seward County Livestock Center was a victim of the recent flood. Therefore the 2019 Seward Calf Classic scheduled for April 13 has been canceled. Please contact Ginny at 402-641-0513 with any questions.

2019 Animal Dates for Otoe County!

  • May 10- Horse ID's & District Paper ID's are due to the Extension Office
  • May 18- Market Lamb weigh-in will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the O.K. Pavilion.
  • June 15- Animal ID's DUE: this includes Breeding Beef, Feeder Calves, Bucket Calves, Companion Animal, Dogs, Dairy & Meat Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep, and Swine

- All 4-H Exhibitors showing Beef, Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep or Swine are required to complete YQCA.

  • July 15- All animal entries for Otoe County Fair are DUE: this includes Beef, Companion Animals, Dogs, Dairy & Meat Goats, Horses, Meat Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep and Swine. These entry sheets will also be used to stall livestock at the Otoe County Fair.
