Class Placement 2020-2021
In the coming weeks, we will begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. Even in our remote working conditions, we will put the thought, time, and energy into carefully designing classes. In putting together our student rosters, we will take into consideration many factors including: girl/boy ratio, academic performance, behavioral characteristics, talents, personalities, needs, and learning styles. Our goal is to ensure that each child is in a class that has an appropriate balance of students with the proper teacher. We will consider each child using the data collected from the present classroom teacher(s) and the input of the Student Support Counselors, Reading Specialists, and Administration.
If you feel that we would benefit from additional information, please send the placement form found on our website by email to Mr. Virgulti rvirgulti@cbsd.org , Mr. Cochran's confidential secretary. She will organize requests by grade level and send the letters to Mr. Cochran. You SHOULD NOT request a specific teacher for your child. Requests for specific teachers will not be considered. If however, based on a personal past experience with an older sibling, you have concern regarding a potential teacher placement, you may share that concern on the form.
You are not required to fill out this form. Student Information forms must be returned to Mrs. Virgulti by Friday, May 8, 2020.
After placement has been completed, class assignment changes will not be considered. Moving even one child from a class could upset the balance of a classroom, and have an impact that extends far beyond your child. All of our teachers are caring, capable, and highly-qualified educators. Thank you for your cooperation in not requesting changes and for your understanding, trust, and support.
If you have questions about any of this information, please feel free to contact us.
Respectfully,
Kevin Cochran & Stacey Pedersen
Bridge Valley Garden
Back in February, Jon Yerkes, of None Such Farm, started seeds for our BV garden just as he has done for the past 15 years. Plans were well underway, and everything was on track to start planting the BV cold frames in April.
When school plans changed, Mrs. Skjevland stepped up and started thinking of ways we could keep our BV garden growing. It was important that we not let this wonderful tradition and beautiful produce go to waste. She was determined to continue our community outreach of sharing our vegetables with our local food pantries.
The Skjevland family picked up about 800 plants from None Such Farm and delivered them (social distancing at all times) to our garden partners -Mrs. Rick and her family, William Satterfield and his family, Caroline Roland and her family, her own family and our partners at Penn Engineering. Penn Engineering has a large garden they started about 3 years ago- specifically for the employees to work in and to share their produce with community food pantries and families in need. Penn Engineering has been the perfect partner for our project.
BV is currently growing 11 varieties of vegetables:
Oak leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, spinach, beets, swiss chard, bok choi, kholrabi, roxanne radish, watermelon radish and silky sweet turnip. We look forward to seeing our little gardens grow and helping our community as we move through the spring months. We will continue to keep you posted on the progress of our garden and the lucky recipients of our produce. If you enjoy gardening share your pictures with us, you can send them to spedersen@cbsd.org.
Spring planting has begun.
Our little garden continues to grow even when we are not at BVE
A true green thumb!

Earth Day Hero
We celebrate Ryan C. who saved a squirrel on Earth Day!
He shared with Mrs. Foreman and Mrs. Rafferty that it fell out of a tree and he and his mom took him to the Aark, a wildlife rescue in Chalfont. Ryan was hoping to keep it as a pet, now that would be interesting!
Spotlight on Support Staff
Mrs. Forgeng has been working for CBSD for 19 years both as a teacher and assistant in our Autistic Support and Extended School Year programs. She earned her Autism Endorsement at La Salle University then joined the dynamic Bridge Valley Staff. She and her dedicated coworkers strive to make the most of every teaching opportunity and celebrate the academic and social growth of our students.
During this transformative time she is focusing on mindfulness and healthy eating. Mrs. Forgeng is looking forward to spring gardening and spending time outdoors. Until then she’s been enjoying home improvement shows and music. She is a passionate reader and has begun reading "The Way of Kings". She feels it has been a unique time to reach out to others and reflect upon the meaningfulness of working with our wonderful students. We are grateful for the work Mrs. Forgeng does and the care she provides our students each day.
