Irvine Children's Fund Expands Affordable Child Care for IUSD Families
Funding from the Irvine Children’s Fund (ICF) to the Irvine Child Care Project (ICCP) will expand scholarships available to income-eligible families to help pay for child care programs located on every Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) elementary and K-8 school campus. The ICCP is a partnership between IUSD and the City of Irvine.
“On behalf of the IUSD Board of Education, I would like to extend our sincerest appreciation for the Irvine Children’s Fund and the City of Irvine for their support of IUSD students and families,” said IUSD Board Member and ICF Committee Member Lauren Brooks. “In addition to supporting families, whose work and child care needs have been affected by COVID, these funds will also help support working and income-eligible families, who need access to affordable, reliable and quality child care.”
The ICF, best known for the presentation of the Irvine Junior Games, as its signature fundraising and community building event, was established in 1987. Working in collaboration with the City, IUSD and ICCP, ICF has provided more than $2 million in scholarships for child care on IUSD campuses.
“Irvine is unique in that child care is available at every elementary school campus in the Irvine Unified School District,” said Sharon Wellikson, Irvine Children’s Fund Executive Director. “The City of Irvine and IUSD should be immensely proud of their role in supporting and expanding school-age child care and we are proud to partner with them.”

Reminders
PTA Membership for 2021-2022 - Please fill out this form if you are interested in being a founding member of IVA's PTA.
Tardies - We would like to press upon our families the importance of students arriving to class on time in IVA. A student that arrives late to class may feel anxious or embarrassed (think of it as arriving late to an important meeting). When a student arrives late, the teacher needs to stop what is happening in class to get the student caught up, which causes delays in instruction for all of the class.
IVA Hours - Although one of the benefits of IVA is asynchronous learning, please make sure that your child is available between 8:30 am-2:45 pm daily. Your child is responsible for attending Zooms and working on independent work during these hours, the same way they would be expected to be on campus at a site between those hours.
