As you can see, we have a very packed schedule on top of what we already do each day at AMCMS. I know there are some overlapping events. Here is what is different about this school year. We have three less days this school year and because of this we have had to shorten our timelines on hosting events. Due to STAAR testing we cannot hold evening events and with finals approaching, that really left us with minimal options.
I appreciate all that you do as parents to work your schedule to attend your child's events and I sincerely apologize for inconveniences this may have caused you and/or your family. It is simply not possible to have everything as spaced out as we would like it to be.
It has been a wonderful year and I look forward to finishing strong over the next two weeks.
Have a great rest of your day.
Sincerely,
Jeff Mann

The series is based upon Jay Asher's 2007 young adult novel that tells the fictional story of Hannah Baker, a high school student who commits suicide and leaves a series of thirteen audio recordings addressed to certain individuals with whom she believes played a part in her decisions to take her life.
I am not telling you how to parent, please understand that. I am making you aware of this because we have many students that talk about this series at school.
The series is rated MA17+ for mature audiences. It takes a very serious, emotional and graphic look at the realities of rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, underage drinking, body image and bullying. When I read about this series I find that many professionals believe that these are portrayed in a way that leads the main character to believe she is in a hopeless situation, surrounded by adults that either do not know how to help her or ignore the signs, leaving her to contemplate and successfully carry out her decision to commit suicide.
I share all of this to say, please know what your child is watching on TV and on the internet. If you approve of them watching shows of this nature please take the time to talk with them about it, the message they are hearing from it, the dangers of these types of behaviors, and get help if you feel that your child needs help. Children are extremely impressionable and these types of shows and series will leave an impression upon them to be sure.
