Caitlin's Steamboat Shop
Impact on North Dakota
Transporting goods and poeple were definitly hard with out a steamboat. Going against the currents in a paddle boat was super hard and tiering. Steamboats made that job a lot easier for all of us. The steamboat decresed time from an average time of five days to 32 hours. As a matter of not haivng to worry about traviling against winds.

History
Steamboats are used to carry people and goods from one place to another. The steam-powered boats can travel at an astonishing speed of five miles per hour. A man named, James Watt created an engine that was ran by steam. Once they learned how the engines worked they started to experiment with using it to run a boat. The very first man to create a full steamboat was John Fitch. In 1787 he built a 45-foot steamboat that he sailed down the Delaware River. John then built four more, which was very expensive. Since they were so expensive they were unsuccessful.
