Sheep Industry booms

Sheep industry became an important part in ranching. sheep had been raised mostly in south Texas. There colonists heavily breeded sheep. This doubled there weightand tripled the amount of wool. AFter the cicil war wool was in a higher demand and that brought more sheep farmers to texas.

After the civil war

In the 1870's ranchers north and east of san antonio had large herds of sheep. Farmers complained that the sheep were cutting the grass to short and eating there crops. They began to start fencing in there land to protect their land.
