Practice Makes Perfect!

- First Grade Reading: https://www.colorincolorado.org/sites/default/files/parent-tips_reading_1st_english.pdf
- Math Around Your Home: https://www.pbs.org/parents/thrive/tips-for-doing-math-around-the-house
- Help kids notice numbers around them (grocery store, street signs, prices, etc.) ask them to read numbers and write them.
- Help kids estimate. Ask them how many of something they think there are. Estimating helps students decide if their answers make sense later!
Any board or card game! Especially, games including dice.
Count, count, count! Give them opportunities to count silverware, dishes, laundry, etc. practicing counting verbally important, but counting objects is extremely helpful. Sorting objects into groups and counting in different amounts is great practice (1s, 2s, 5s or 10s!)
Numberblocks on Netflix—5 minute episodes about many mathematical concepts.
