Library Update
April/May 2018
What We've Been Doing
Congratulations to our Bananagrams champions Ryder and Eden! They were well-matched competitors with great attitudes! We now have four sets of Bananagrams in the library. Anytime you have a group that would like to play at recess, send them my way on Tuesday or Thursday!!
In April, we looked at poetry. We listened to poetry. We explored lots of different poems. Some of us wrote poetry. Some of us chose a favorite poem and memorized it to be recited on flipgrid. Some of us read poetry to our friends. Fourth and fifth grade voted on their favorite Great Stone Face book.
May was Get Caught Reading Month! Thank you for helping out! Other things we did in May include the fifth grade picture book project, third and fourth grade completing Destiny challenges, working on class projects, and learning about Memorial Day. Also, the Great Stone Face award winner was announced. The winner was Ghosts, a graphic novel by Raina Telgemeier. Our qualified readers celebrated with a picnic, and they looked over the new titles for next year and gave me their recommendations for the ones they would like to read.
The Public library will be meeting with your students before school is out to share their summer program details. I take suggestions from the students and leave some of our books at the public library for the summer so that they can be checked out by our students.
Summer reading lists are on my website. Please let me know if you would like me to send home hard copies to families or prefer to send a link.
