Math- We are continuing our work with using both addition and subtraction to solve problems.

Reading/Science- We are continuing our study of insects. We will be researching insects and incorporating our learning into our reading and writing activities. We will complete the unit at the end of the week by using our knowledge to make a model of an insect out of play-dough.

We got our iPads this week!

The students were very excited to begin exploring our iPads. We will be using our iPads to help us research and share information as well as using them for extra math and reading practice in class.

Fire Safety Assembly

The Belton Fire Department came to share fire safety tips with us and show us what they look like in their suits. They talked to us about having a fire safety plan at home and working smoke detectors. They also said, they have a program to help people who do not have smoke detectors in their homes. If you do not have smoke detectors please contact the fire department for more information on this program at (816) 331-1500.

Conferences Oct. 29-30

I sent out an e-mail with your conference time. I look forward to meeting with you soon and discussing your student's progress.

I sent home passwords last week for a reading program called Raz-Kids. If you have internet access at home your student can listen to or read books on their level and take comprehension quizzes. We will also have some time periodically during class to work on this program.

I will be sending home new reading logs on Monday. Please read 10 minutes each night for a total of 50 minutes for the week. If you miss a night you can make it up throughout the week or on the weekend. Please return reading logs on Monday the 19th. If they are using Raz-Kids they can include that time on their reading log.

Our First Project - Due Oct. 19th

Our 1st bunches meetings have been moved to October 19th. If you haven't finished your Iposter keep working on it and send it in this week. We will be sharing them in buches next week.
