Math Workshop is a differentiated approach to mathematics instruction that puts the student at the center of the learning environment. Through the use of small group and whole class focus lessons and engaging learning stations, students experience mathematics through investigation. Academic discourse and reflection are critical elements of the Math Workshop model – a place where students believe in themselves as mathematicians. Participants will build an understanding of what Math Workshop is and how to establish a workshop approach in their classrooms. Exploration of the three structures of Math Workshop will allow participants to see the model through the lens of teacher and student. Activities to support differentiation will be shared, and connections will be made to current instructional practices.
Virtual meeting instructions will be shared prior to event
