Hello, I would like to introduce myself. I’m Mrs. Briggs. I am new at Jefferson Elementary School this year, but not new in the district. This is the start of my 22nd year with MAPS. This year I will be working with the kindergarten and first grade classes.
I am married to Ron and have three grown children. Casey is married to Dan Conner and they have 3 children. Jessica is married to Kevin Harding and have 2 children. Michelle is with Kevin Hartwig. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my active grandchildren.

Maker Space Update
Dear Jefferson Elementary School Families,
My name is Lori Smith. I will be the Jefferson MakerSpace K-5 Innovator this year! This is the 1st year of implementation of our MakerSpace program for all of our students in K-5! We have a lot of new changes and exciting things planned for this year! You may be wondering what a MakerSpace is.
MakerSpace is modeled around STEAM curriculum, based on the idea of educating students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Rather than teaching these as separate subjects, we integrate all of them into a cohesive learning experience based on worldly applications, challenges, and using knowledge they have to think critically and problem solve as individuals or part of small groups. We use a variety of hands on experiments, projects, and challenges to excite and motivate our students to have fun while they learn!
In order to run this program, we require an abundance of consumable materials. We are looking to YOU for help! Attached is a list of many of the items we need. A lot of things you may already have at home! All donations can be brought to the office or sent with your child to school (new or gently used). If you have any questions about materials on the list or materials you have that you would like to donate that are not on the list, please don’t hesitate to contact me via email at lori.smith@maps.k12.wi.us . If you are interested in helping or offering a new skill to our learners, contact me or the school office and we will get you set up!
Thanks so much!
Mrs. Smith

ROAR Rally
Wednesday was our September ROAR Rally. We recognized 6 students as Jaguars of the Month. They have demonstrated the ROAR commitments throughout the building-R-respect others O-own your actions A-act safely R-rise to the challenge.
As part of Bully Awareness day, we reviewed our Stick Together Pledge to stand up to bullies, use kind words, and treat others the way they want to be treated. Students learned actions they can take if they see bullying happen.
