Early Childhood Leadership

March 20, 2015

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. ~ Frederick Douglass

A giant thank you to my special friend(s)! The cheery plants and notes mysteriously finding their way on to my desk last week brightened my days in a big way - that really lifted my spirit! What a thoughtful thing to do.

You may have noticed that we are beginning to transition Beth's office. I know that it can come as an uncomfortable realization to see that happen. Her office stood as a reminder of the important role she played in our lives; however, her legacy remains in the work that you do and the children and families you influence and you know that she would love to see that. Lauren Chom has stepped up to assist in getting us up to speed with federal monitoring and grant writing and, for the time being, she will be using Beth's office as we work on these projects.

The Head Start Federal Monitoring takes place here at HSNS from March 23 through March 27. Most of that time will involve a review of our fiscal operations and directly impacts Kim Ostrom and her very able team. Shirley Lee will coordinate the ERSEA records review on a day determined by the team on Monday. I will keep you up to date on what happens during the week.

We will have our Early Childhood Leadership meeting at the regular time on Monday, and if you have anything you would like to see in the agenda please let me know by Monday morning.

Also coming this week is our presentation to the Board of Education regarding the continuation grant. The meeting is on Tuesday, March 24 at 5:00 - join me if you can at the Davis building!

At the time of writing this, it is not officially Spring - but by the time you open this email it may be. Can you believe it? Spring break is right around the corner!
