The North Star School
Hello, North Star Families.
Welcome to November. We have recently concluded LCPS Quarter 1 which means that our students are actually starting semester 2 of their 4x4 courses. Please take a look at your student’s grades in PVUE, discuss with them, and reach out to talk or meet with their teachers. We want all learners to experience success and that can happen by building relationships together!
We are excited for the Thanksgiving holiday coming up soon. At The North Star School, we host “Friendsgiving” event which is being held on November 16, 2023. We invite all students, staff, and parents to join us to share a turkey meal together. Please be sure to RSVP if you plan to attend. This year, I am particularly grateful for the students and staff of The North Star School. I wouldn’t want to lead anywhere else. Enjoy the change of season in the coming month and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Spirit Events For November
We are looking forward to our annual Friendsgiving event in November.

Fall Picture Day coming
Make ups and senior photos will be in January.
The North Star Equity Team partnered with the school's UMH team. It offered students and staff an opportunity to join together during the month of October to honor Unity Day as part of National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month by creating a school Unity Tree. Art teacher Jeremy Wright and his students showed their skills and talents by designing the tree. Students and staff contributed leaves to the tree that supported peers who may have faced bullying and shared positive comments with others.
LCPS will be administering Fall Non Writing SOL tests to students in grades 3-12 during the Fall testing window. Tests are administered as part of the Virginia Assessment Program and provide useful data to parents, teachers, and school administrators on what students have learned during instruction. The North Star School will administer SOLs December 11, 2023-December 15, 2023. Expedited Retakes will be offered to students who earn a failing score between 375-399 on any SOL test. Please reach out to Nichole Chappell, School Testing Coordinator with any questions. Scores and score reports for the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests will be available in ParentVUE. Scores can be found in the Test History tab of ParentVUE and a detailed score report can be found in the Documents tab of ParentVUE. If you have questions about the SOL Assessments, please visit the LCPS Assessment Services webpage and/or contact your school’s Testing Coordinator.
On November 3rd Students who were recognized as S.T.A.R students in the month of September or October will be able to enjoy an Ice cream social the last 30mins of the day. Passes will be sent to students a head of time and parents will be notified.
