Spring Valley Family News
February, 2023

Greetings from Ms. Misner
Dear Spring Valley Families,
Happy Black History Month!
All year long, we strive to teach Black History but this month we will highlight and celebrate the contributions African Americans have made in our collective American History. This year's theme, "Black Resistance", recognizes African Americans' resistance to historic oppression in pursuit of self-determination and equality. I have linked some resources for you and your family below.
We have many events coming up in March including Literacy Night, Kindergarten Orientation, Conferences and Spring Break. Dates are included in this Newsletter.
I hope you all are staying safe and healthy as we finish out the winter months!
Take Care,
Heather L. Misner

Attendance Challenge
At the end of each month, students who have had perfect attendance (excused absences don't count against students) will be recognized with donuts with the principal. In addition, the classroom with the best overall attendance will receive a class pizza party!
Congratulations to Mr. Young's 2nd grade classroom who won for the month of January and to the 71 students (a few are pictured below) who had perfect attendance for the month.
