Friday, January 29 - CB South Spirit Day (wear CB South apparel or Blue/Black)
We will not be having Mill Creek's Magic Miles race this year; however, the HSA is still planning to award the annual Mill Creek scholarships to deserving CB South Seniors who attended Mill Creek! We are having a CB South Spirit on Friday, January 29th to help raise money for this scholarship. Any donation amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated! Donations can be made by either:
- Through Venmo - @MillCreekHSA
- By making a check out to "Mill Creek HSA" and sending it to the Mill Creek main office.
- Congratulations to our 2019-2020 Mill Creek Home and School Association Leonard H. Schwartz Scholarship Award recipients: Lauren Kline and Ashley Scott
- Due to the current circumstances, H&S is not soliciting the usual annual $25 in dues per student. However, H&S will continue to incur some expenses related to items such as yearbook, 6th grade promotion, Unami t-shirts for 6th grade students, and more, so we will gladly accept and appreciate any donations. If you would like to make a donation to H&S, please make the check out to "Mill Creek Home & School" and send in to the main office at Mill Creek. Thank you!

Principal's Post - A Weekly Note From Mr. Ortman
Dear Mill Creek Families,
I want to take a moment to recognize the continued hard work of our students and teachers/staff as we move forward with the 2020-2021 school year. Coming off of Winter Break and short, cold days can make January a challenging month for motivation, but my observations of both in-person and virtual instruction has shown me that the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff continues.
Thank you all for your ongoing efforts. Enjoy the weekend!
Shawn M. Ortman
Principal
From the Desk of Mr. Murtha
As a school leader, I find that a very important part of my job is to work to inspire others, especially my teachers/staff and my students. I work hard to send as much positive energy to them as I can possibly send, especially when things are tough.
There are many times, however, when I yearn for inspiration from others. I find that inspiration is not hard to find, but I have to admit that there are times when I overlook finding it because my mind/attention are occupied with other items. For some reason... possibly related to the recent Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday that just passed... I felt very inspired this week. I was inspired by students who engaged in a variety of community service activities related to the service-based holiday. I was inspired by a teacher who, despite having a series of difficult personal circumstances come their way of late, continues to work hard for their students through it all. I was inspired by a veteran teacher who worked to mentor a novice teacher and by the latter teacher's genuine absorption of the former's knowledge with genuine appreciation. I was inspired by ongoing positive interactions between students in hallways and classrooms involving simple, warm hallway greetings and peers helping peers in the classroom.
Thanks to our community for the many inspirations this week. They are more meaningful to me than you know.
I wish that you all feel inspired in some way today and every day.
Mr. John C. Murtha
Assistant Principal

Our in-person winners will be invited to the main office to select a prize. Our virtual winners can stop by Mill Creek during school hours for a prize. These recognized students are:
Instructional Spotlight - Ms. Cocca, 1st Grade
In learning about Martin Luther King Jr., Ms. Cocca's class listened to a story about Dr. King (Who Was Martin Luther King, Jr. board book) and brainstormed messages that he would share with us if he were alive today. Students then created a directed drawing of MLK. Lastly, Ms. Cocc'as students made a speech bubble of MLK’s important words and messages to remember.
