Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
LISD Professional Development Center
Crisis Prevention Institute - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
The window of opportunity for crisis intervention is a small segment of time in which staff must intervene with another person and help address behavior that may deteriorate to a more violent or disruptive level. The question is, “How do we control violence with care, welfare, safety and security as priorities?"
Developed by the Crisis Prevention Institute, courses will enable participants to balance the practical applications of crisis intervention with humanistic concerns when faced with a disruptive or potentially violent situation.
This program clarifies basic elements of violent behavior. It proceeds to identify how a crisis may escalate and conversely de-escalate. Finally, it helps identify practical strategies which have proven successful for thousands of school and human service personnel throughout the nation.
