Welcome to Eli Whitney Intermediate School!
IMPORTANT BACK TO SCHOOL INFORMATION
Welcome to Eli Whitney Intermediate School!!!
On behalf of the entire staff, we would like to welcome all our families, both new and returning to the Whitney Wolf Pack! We have been busy planning and preparing for the upcoming school year. We are looking forward to building a collaborative relationship between home and school with each of you.
We would like to begin by introducing ourselves. We have been at Eli Whitney since 2020. Principal Kate Flanaghan has worked for Enfield Public Schools for 20 years in a variety of roles and buildings including classroom teacher at Crandall and and Barnard; academic coach at Whitney and HMS; assistant principal at Barnard, and principal of Eli Whitney. Assistant Principal Kristen Fitzsimons has worked for Enfield Public Schools for 11 years. She began her career as a math teacher and STEAM teacher at JFK Middle School before taking on her current role. We are excited to continue working together to achieve the academic and social goals set for our students.
As we begin a new year, we want to stress the importance of communication between home and school. We encourage you to maintain an open and ongoing dialogue with your child’s teacher. Please be sure to keep the office updated on your current contact information, including your email, to be sure that you receive our newsletter which is emailed home weekly outlining upcoming events and highlighting what is happening in our school. Students will continue to be assigned an iPad. Teachers will be working with students throughout the year on using this recent technology effectively to enhance their learning. At home, students may need technical support with accessing features of their learning environment. A fully detailed technology guide will be forthcoming, along with information on applying for technology insurance, which we highly recommend.
This summer, our custodial staff has been working hard to prepare for our students’ arrival. All classrooms have been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Please familiarize yourself with our protocols when coming to school including having a photo ID to enter the building, or pick-up your child, as we strive to maintain a safe environment for all. We eagerly await your arrival in our learning community. We look forward to an amazing year together!
Sincerely,
Kate Flanaghan, Principal
Kristen Fitzsimons, Assistant Principal

Summer Arts Camp
2022 Summer Arts Camp
The Office of the Enfield Public Schools Superintendent is pleased to announce that our first Summer Art Camp was a huge success! The program ran for two weeks in mid-July where approximately sixty Enfield students spent their mornings making art at Enfield High School with our talented EPS art teachers. Students had the opportunity to express themselves while exploring clay, painting, printmaking, collage, jewelry making, and more. The program was open to Enfield students in grades one thru eleven and was attended by students of all ages. The Summer Art Program was made possible by a generous donation from Connie Boyajian, a retired Enfield art teacher.
