Florence 1 Schools Music Education Program Receives National Recognition for the 6th Consecutive Year
For the sixth consecutive year, Florence 1 Schools has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.
The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.
To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Florence 1 Schools answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas reviewed and verified responses with school officials.
“Members of the Florence 1 Schools music department are honored to be recognized again this year by the NAMM Foundation. Music is such a strong component in our schools and in the Florence community,” said Laura Greenway, Florence 1 Schools Coordinator of the Performing Arts. “Every event we sponsor features some component of music presented by our students and teachers,” she added.
