Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
On the morning of September 11, 2001, there were terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda, an Islamist extremist group in New York. Around 19 terrorists from al-Qaeda, hijacked four commercial airplanes, deliberately crashing two of the planes into the upper floors of the North and South towers of the World Trade Center complex. It is said that a third plane crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Va. The Twin Towers ultimately collapsed because of the damage from the impacts and the resulting fires. The attacks killed nearly 3,000 people from 93 nations. 2,753 people were killed in New York, 184 people were killed at the Pentagon and about 40 people were killed on the planes. People say American intervention in the Middle East is the main motivation behind the 9/11 attacks.
Due to Bush's impact on the intervention in the Middle East, many say he could have prevented this from happening. As opponents of the Bush administration blamed him. There were others whom completely took his side, and began discriminating the Islamist group.
Many events influence Bin Laden and the Islamic group to plan the attack.
