AAPS Health Alert
AAPS Health Alert - Feb. 17, 2023
Washtenaw County is experiencing an increase in Norovirus, a gastrointestinal illness that causes nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Over the past week, some AAPS students and staff have reported gastrointestinal symptoms and illness.
Norovirus spreads easily, and can survive for long periods of time on surfaces. Protect yourself, your family, and others:
Wash hands with soap and water often
Stay home if you are ill
Clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces
Do not prepare food for others if you're sick
AAPS monitors illness and absence rates across our buildings. As with other communicable diseases, families are notified if classroom or building levels of gastrointestinal illness reach 20%. A cleaning and disinfection process occurs after clusters of gastrointestinal illness.

Dear Fantastic BPE Families,
I hope that everyone had a wonderful twenty third week of school. Next Saturday, February 25 is the PTO Thrift Shop day for Burns Park Elementary, details below.
Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop:
The Ann Arbor PTO Thrift shop is a non-profit which provides support to all AAPS PTOs from their sales, see their flyer attached below this message. Every academic year, each school is also assigned one Saturday when 10% of proceeds are earned for that specific school and BPE’s day will be February 25, 2023.
Virtual Movie Night:
Thanks to those 57 Penguins who voted for our BPE PTO Virtual Movie. The winning movie for today's Presidents Day AAPS holiday (Monday, February 20, 2023) is Pokemon Detective Pikachu.
Watch instructions including a watch link, passphrase, trailer link and technical details are located on the PTO website here:
The Burns Park Elementary Yearbook needs your help! Please share any photos you took of school events during the 2022-2023 school year. After uploading the photos, please tag them with the grade or teacher name.
You can upload your photos here or by taking a picture of the QR code above.
We are looking for photos from classroom parties, field trips, in the school garden, on the playground and school events like Walk and Talk, Popsicles in the Park, Outdoor Movie Night, and the Fall Picnic. Your cameras can take great shots!
We appreciate your help in filling this year’s yearbook with lots of Penguin memories. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the yearbook co-editors: Julie Rick (email@example.com) and/or Kory Zhao (firstname.lastname@example.org).
